The Medical Center offers Behavioral Health Services to meet the needs of those suffering from psychiatric and chemical dependency issues. While each program has its own set of defined goals, each shares a common purpose: to enable individuals to return to a healthy and productive life.

Inpatient Programs

Adult Inpatient Program
The Medical Center's Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Services provide a safe and secure environment for individuals experiencing:

  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Extreme mood swings
  • Life-threatening behaviors
  • Major depression or other psychiatric illnesses

Acute care treatment is designed to provide a variety of treatment options based on the needs of the individual. Individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and educational groups provide the basis for treatment. Many patients with mental disorders also have concurrent medical problems. In such cases, the full array of medical diagnostic and treatment services are available to patients on the psychiatric unit.

Geriatric Inpatient Program
A unique service of the Inpatient Program is Special Care, a geriatric program designed primarily to meet the mental health needs of the elderly population. Often times the mental and emotional healthcare needs of older adults differ significantly from those of the general adult population. Our extensive range of services is designed specifically for older adults who experience mental health issues including those complicated by behavior and/or other medical problems.

Outpatient Programs

The Medical Center offers three outpatient programs designed to meet an individual's needs: Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient group therapies and Individual Outpatient. A certified alcohol and drug counselor is available to meet the needs of those suffering from dual diagnosis (a combination of both a mental and chemical dependency).

Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs are alternative programs for adults diagnosed with a primary psychiatric disorder or who are dually diagnosed. The treatment offered within the programs is designed to reduce or control psychiatric symptoms.

Services are designed to:

  • Avoid hospitalization for those individuals in acute crisis where there is a supportive and stable living environment
  • Reduce hospital length of stay by providing a transition from inpatient care to community living
  • Help patients recognize and change self-defeating attitudes and behaviors that undermine their well-being and self esteem
  • Help patients meet their identified needs by developing individualized programs of care.
  • Assure that appropriate aftercare plans and referrals are made when the patient completes the program

Outpatient Services are generally offered no more than twice per week. These services include individual, marriage and family counseling. Specific program hours for outpatient services are determined on an individualized basis dependent upon the client's needs. Evening appointments may be available with prior arrangements with the assigned therapist.
