| Pre-Certification Policy
The Medical Center has adopted the following
policy for pre-certification on insurance plans, health maintenance
organizations, and other healthcare reimbursement plans, excluding Medicare
and Medicaid.
The Medical Center will assist patients in
pre-certifying their admission and stay as directed by their insurance
company. Complete insurance information must be provided at the time of
registration. You should contact your employer if you are unsure of policy
requirements regarding pre-certification.
The Medical Center will not accept sole
responsibility for pre-certification. The Medical Center will assist a
patient, or guarantor, in fulfilling his or her requirements, but the
responsibility for making sure all required pre-certifications are obtained
is still the patient’s or guarantor’s. Any failure of hospital personnel to
assist in this process will not make the hospital financially liable. Nor
will The Medical Center be financially responsible for any reduction in
payment or penalty sustained by the patient, or guarantor.
The hospital will hold the patient, or
guarantor, responsible for all balances not paid by the patient’s insurance
company, HMO or other reimbursement plan, regardless of the conditions of
pre-certification or the outcome of that process except where prohibited by
contract or law.
Assistance with pre-certification may be
obtained from our Insurance Specialist, 270-745-1469 from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00
p.m., Monday through Friday.
