The Medical Center utilizes protocols for evidence-based care in the diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from stroke in compliance with recommendations of the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, and Brain Attack Coalition.

Following an on-site review, The Medical Center has been designated a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission. Certification demonstrates a commitment to excellence in providing stroke care.

Stroke is the nation’s third leading cause of death with someone suffering a stroke every 45 seconds. Recognizing the signs of stroke and getting immediate medical treatment may help stop or reverse the effects of a stroke.

Watch for these warning signs of a stroke, and get help fast.

F = Face Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop? 
A = Arms Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S = Speech Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Are the words slurred?
T = Time If you observe any of these signs, then it’s time to call 9-1-1.
